Father Harris and the Archdiocese of Baltimore are looking to gauge interest and identify individuals who would want to form a new Mental Health Awareness Ministry team at HFC. It will help those persons with mental illnesses to feel accepted, respected, and valued. There will be no therapeutic element to the MHA Ministry. The team will provide support and assistance accessing services, as well as, advocate for persons who struggle with mental illness.
The team will have a Catholic emphasis and strive to increase awareness and acceptance of mental health issues in order to lessen the stigma associated with mental health.
This program has been run successfully at St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park and their MHA team has offered to assist us with the formation of our team and coordination of our first prayer meeting on here at HFC.
