OPENING HYMN

Come, Holy Ghost

1. Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,

And in our hearts take up thy rest;

Come with thy grace and heavenly aid

To fill the hearts which thou hast made,

To fill the hearts which thou has made.

2. O Comforter, to thee we cry,

Thou heavenly gift of God most high,

Thou fount of life, and fire of love,

And sweet anointing from above,

And sweet anointing from above.

3. O Holy Ghost, through thee alone

Know we the Father and the Son;

Be this our firm unchanging creed,

That thou dost from them both proceed,

That thou dost from them both proceed.

4. Praise we the Lord, Father and Son,

And Holy Spirit with them one;

And may the Son on us bestow

All gifts that from the Spirit flow,

All gifts that from the Spirit flow.

SEQUENCE

1. Holy Spirit, Lord divine,

Come from heights of heaven and shine,

Come with blessed radiance bright!

Come, O Father of the poor,

Come, whose treasured gifts endure,

Come, our heart’s unfailing light!

2. Of consolers, wisest, best,

And our soul’s most welcome guest,

Sweet refreshment, sweet repose.

In our labor rest most sweet,

Pleasant coolness in the heat,

Consolation in our woes.

3. Light most blessed, shine with grace

In our heart’s most secret place,

Fill your faithful through and through.

Left without your presence here,

Life itself would disappear,

Nothing thrives apart from you!

4. Cleanse our soiled hearts of sin,

Arid souls refresh within,

Wounded lives to health restore.

Bend the stubborn heart and will,

Melt the frozen, warm the chill,

Guide the wayward home once more!

5. On the faithful who are true

And profess their faith in you,

In your sevenfold gift descend!

Give us virtue’s sure reward,

Give us your salvation, Lord,

Give us joys that never end!

OFFERTORY HYMN

O Holy Spirit, by Whose Breath

1. O Holy Spirit, by whose breath life rises vibrant out of death:

Come to create, renew, inspire; come, kindle in our hearts your fire.

2. You are the seeker’s sure resource, of burning love the living source,

Protector in the midst of strife, the giver and the Lord of life.

3. In you God’s energy is shown, to us your varied gifts make known.

Teach us to speak, teach us to hear; yours is the tongue and yours the ear.

4. Flood our dull senses with your light; in mutual love our hearts unite.

Your power the whole creation fills; confirm our weak, uncertain wills.

5. From inner strife grant us release; turn nations to the ways of peace.

To fuller life your people bring that as one body we may sing:

6. Praise to the Father, Christ the Word, and to the Sprit: God the Lord,

To whom all honor, glory be both now and for eternity.

COMMUNION HYMN

One Bread, One Body

One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord.

1. Gentile or Jew, servant or free, woman or man no more.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord.

2. Many the gifts, many the works, one in the Lord of all.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord.

3. Grain for the fields, scattered and grown, gathered to one for all.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord.

CLOSING HYMN

Spirit Divine, Inspire Our Prayer

1. Spirit divine, inspire our prayer, and make this house your home;

Descend with all your gracious power; come, Holy Spirit, come!

2. Come as the light; to us reveal our emptiness and woe,

And lead us in those paths of life where all the righteous go.

3. Come as the fire and cleanse our hearts with purifying flame;

Let all our lives an offering be to our Redeemer’s name.

4. Come as the dove and spread your wings, the wings of peace and love,

And let your Church on earth become blest as the Church above.

5. Come as the wind, with rushing sound and Pentecostal grace,

That all the human race may see the glory of your face.

6. Spirit divine, accept our prayer, and make this world your home;

Descend with all your gracious power; come, Holy Spirit, come!
